Note: Exact location of this historic waterfall is unknown.
Howe Caverns is quite possibly one of the most well known commercial caving excursions located in New York State. Thousands of people visit each year to view the caverns that took millions of years to be created. Visit the website for pricing and accommodation information.
The waterfall is not actually located inside of the cave system, but if it were it would not be the only one of its kind. There are actually several waterfalls located throughout the state that reside in cave systems. One such waterfall resides very close to Howe Caverns in another less well know family run destination, Secret Caverns. Visit the website for pricing information.
In searching for more information about this particular waterfall we were able to find reference to its possible destruction: “…also reported that the Howe Quarry has sold with Howe’s Waterfall Pit to be wiped out but Barytes may be able to be saved.” – Reference. Russell Dunn’s waterfall guide makes reference to this waterfall as well.
No other reference has been given to the exact location of this waterfall and its present condition.
