bear-slide-falls

This one is amazing. Bring your sled (just kidding!).

Bear Slide Falls is a little know 50′ slide type waterfall that can be found off a limited maintenance road (River Rd.), which follows the banks of the Hudson River. You can read more in-depth about this waterfall in Russell Dunn’s Adirondack Waterfall Guide.

The road to the trailhead may not be accessible during the winter, so we would suggest planning a trip during summer or packing your winter gear for a much longer hike in. The trail to this waterfall is not well groomed and can be very muddy in spots, but not overly lengthy either.

In order to visit you will want to travel a little over a mile up River Rd. to the Hudson River Recreational Area for a good parking area. The trail head is less than a quarter mile from the parking area further up River Rd. You will pass over Buttermilk Brook, wich will be your landmark for the trail located on your left. From there it is a short walk in to this cascade.
