Faville Falls, Herkimer County, New York

Out of the way, Faville Falls is a retreat worth spending a little time exploring!

Faville Falls – 3 Waterfalls
AKA: Faville’s Falls

Location: Dolgeville

Parking and Trailhead: 43.10535, 74.80650
Stream/River/Watershed: Ransome Creek/Gillette Creek
Height of Falls/Type: By Rd 25 ft Upper 10 ft Lower 20 ft, Drop Slide Cascade
Level of Difficulty/Hiking Distance: About .4 Miles Roundtrip

Comments/Notes: You can see the metal footbridge from the parking area. As you walk down toward the footbridge, you will see the first sets of falls and cascades on your left. When you come to the metal footbridge, being careful during the snow and rainy seasons, you get a good view of the falls back up towards the road and also the tops of the other falls downstream. Note that you are also standing above the second falls that come down from under the bridge.

Continuing across the bridge brings you to an old sign stating that the park is no longer maintained and to use caution. Take a moment here to notice the small footpath to the left you can use for a closer view of the falls that go under the bridge. Turning around to head back up to the old sign, you will see the continuation of the trail for a bit further. The trail fades away to open woods where you can continue down the hill to get to an old rarely used picnic area.

If you wish to see closer views of the waterfalls you passed on the way, you will have to walk up the creek for those views. To return back to parking just turn around and go back up the same way you chose to go down.
