Lowville has many waterfalls, but Kettle Hole is one of a kind!

 

Kettle Hole – 3 Waterfalls – Lowville
Location: Lowville, Webb Town

Stream/River/Watershed: Unnamed Stream
Height of Falls/Type: 3 waterfalls, 15 ft free fall/slides, above the falls, second cascade/step, third falls off to the right not far from the end of the meadow.
Level of Difficulty/Hiking Distance: 1.7 miles one way

Comments/Notes: Kettle Hole Waterfalls and be visited in conjunction with the Shallow Pond Outlet Falls. The majority of the entire hike is along a graveled dirt road. You will see a sign pointing the way to Kettle Hole Falls. Continue up the road until just before you get to Shallow Pond. You will hear the falls off to your right, for the Shallow Pond Waterfalls. This is a bushwack to get into.

There is also another access, which starts behind the Kettle Hole Campsite on the north side of the Stillwater Reservoir. This access takes you directly up the stream, all the way to Shallow Pond. This is not an easy hike, as there is much scrambling to do. There is an approximate total of 6-8 waterfalls for these two locations.

Directions: From County Rte 28 and Big Moose Rd, in Eagle Bay, Get on Big Moose Rd and drive north for 5.8 miles. Turn left onto Big Moose Rd and drive for 11.7 miles. Turn right onto Stillwater Rd, and drive .4 miles. Turn left onto Necessary Dam Rd and drive 1.2 miles to parking area for trailhead.
