Stag Brook Falls

More than just skiing on Whiteface. Stag Brook Falls!

Stag Brook Falls is located on Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, NY. The picturesque 40ft waterfall is located near the beginning of the trail that follows the brook up the mountain. Parking is available off NY Rte 86 at the Whiteface Ski Center Parking lot. To get to the trailhead, cross the bridge and follow the dirt road up past the main building. When you reach a T-intersection, walk straight ahead and you will see the trail register. The trail follows the brook up the left side.

To get there: From Lake Placid (junction of Routes 86 & 73), drive northeast on Route 86 for ~8.8 miles and turn left at the sign for the Whiteface Mountain Ski Center. Drive downhill for 0.1 mile and park to your right in a large parking area. From the parking area, walk across the bridge spanning the West Branch of the Ausable River and follow a dirt road uphill, heading straight up the ski slope. Green signs indicating Stag Brook will point the way.

When you reach the trail register after a 0.2-mile walk, follow the red-blazed trail uphill for 0.05 mile to the base of the fall.

Note: Looking at the map, there are two blue lines denoting waterways. Stag Brook is the one on the left.
