Wedge Brook Falls, AMR, 2011

Wedge Brook Falls

Wedge Brook is home to three waterfalls. The most notable is found in the middle of the three and is named Wedge Brook Falls, an 8ft falls located on the trail next to the footbridge that crosses Wedge Brook. These falls get their name from their appearance as a large boulder has become wedged between the two large rock walls. Water is diverted around the sides of the wedged boulder then combine into a single drop.
The first is a 10ft waterfall directly below this falls that is accessible with a scramble down or visible from the top ridge. The third and largest falls are located several hundred feet up the trail and stand at approximately 30ft.

Getting there – The Adirondack Mountain Reserve is a privately owned property with access to trails for hikers. parking for this area is located just off of Rte 73 on Ausable Road, directly across the road from the Roaring Brook Falls parking area. From this parking lot, proceed up the road until you come to Lake Road Way which will take you to the trail register. From here you can take the road or the West River Trail. If you take the road, there are a number of signs on the right that lead to trails that will take you to Wedge Brook Falls. The West River Trail is the most direct route but, it is also a more demanding 3-mile trail as opposed to the dirt road of similar distance.
