russell-brook-falls

Beautiful and secluded, but well worth the bumpy road!

Russell Brook Falls is a multi-tiered waterfall which falls a total of 40′ (30′ and 10′). Located on Russell Brook, NY, this waterfall can be difficult to travel to since it is located on a seasonally limited highway. The road can sometimes be very rough to impassable during certain portions of the year.

Parking roadside will be required, but the shoulder is wide. The waterfalls can be seen from the road, but to gain better views, there is a path further down stream that will lead back to the base of the lower, larger waterfall. Across the top of the main fall, there is an old wall structure that can be seen but is heavily degraded. There are miles of trails that can be followed from these falls that offer many other photo opportunities while visiting the area.

Dig The Falls has not ventured upstream from Russell Brook Falls, but topography would suggest another set of falls at the outlet to Trout Pond. An adventurous hiker would probably be interested in checking this location further, and checking out the outlet waters of Mud Pond, which is only about a mile down stream from where this meets Russell Brook Proper.
