Welcome to Cohoes Falls! – Known to some as the original “Niagara Falls” due to its popularity well before Niagara took its place.

SOURCE: Russell Dunn’s Capital Region Waterfall Guide

Located just outside the heart of Cohoes, this waterfall is one of the biggest most dynamic falls in the region. Depending on the time of year you can be greeted with one immense torrent of water or hundreds of smaller trickling waterfalls over its 1,000-foot wide face.

Beautiful whatever the time of year, Cohoes Falls offers a great show and several areas where you can view the waterfall from. While it can be seen from up to a mile downstream, most prefer to wait until the time of the season when the bottom of the falls is open to the public.

If ever there were a waterfall to visit during the warmer weather, it’s Cohoes Falls. No admission fees and fishing areas available. Even your family pet is allowed in the falls viewing areas!
